You have legal protections under FMLA. Most employers with 50+ employees must hold your job for up to 12 weeks of medical leave. Before going into treatment, notify your HR department in writing, ask about short-term disability benefits, and request medical certification paperwork from your doctor. Many employers are far more supportive than you’d expect, and taking care of your health actually makes you a better employee when you return.
