Hi, My name is Rowan Ellis. I’m really struggling to figure out how to help someone close to me who clearly needs rehab but refuses to go. I don’t want to push too hard, but I’m worried about their health and safety.

Has anyone dealt with this before? What’s the best way to approach the situation without making things worse? Any advice would mean a lot.

You usually can’t force someone to want help, but you can make it easier for them to say yes.
Pick a calm time, be honest about what you see, and focus on concern, not blame or shame.
It can help to have a specific option ready too, like “I found this place, we can call them together and just do an evaluation.”
