Is a CCAPP certified house actually better?

Original post

I'm 6 weeks sober and looking at 2 houses near Culver City. One is CCAPP certified and costs about 300 dollars more a month than the other. Is the certification actually worth the extra cost, or is it mostly a marketing label?

I lived in a CCAPP certified house in North Hollywood for 4 months last year and I'd say the certification mattered most in a crisis. When my roommate relapsed, the house manager knew exactly what steps to follow, called our case manager, and had a plan within an hour instead of everyone just panicking. The rent was higher, but I never once wondered if staff actually knew what they were doing, which was worth a lot to me at 5 months sober.

I've lived in both kinds and honestly the manager mattered more than the certification itself. My uncertified house had a manager who'd been sober 11 years and ran a tighter ship than the certified place I moved to afterward. I'd still lean certified if the price gap is small, but I wouldn't pay a huge premium for a plaque on the wall without meeting the actual staff first.
