Called SASH. What actually happened after?

Called SASH yesterday morning after putting it off for about two weeks. They took my info, asked a bunch of screening questions about what I'd been using and for how long, and told me someone would call back about placement. I don't have a car and I'm trying to figure out what actually happens next. Do they help with a ride, or am I supposed to figure out transportation myself once a bed opens up?

My experience was rougher honestly. The first callback offer fell through because the facility filled the bed before I could confirm, and nobody mentioned transportation until the second placement came through a few days later. What worked for me in the end was calling back myself every morning instead of waiting for them to call me, and asking directly whether that specific facility does pickups. Some do and some don't, so it's worth asking before you get your hopes up about a ride being automatic.

I went through SASH about four months ago in almost the same spot, no car, waiting on a callback. For me the callback came the next afternoon and the case worker specifically asked if I had transportation before she'd confirm a bed, then she set up a rideshare voucher through the facility once I said no. It wasn't instant, I had about a day and a half of waiting after the callback before the ride was actually booked, so keep your phone on you and answer every unknown number. If you're on Medi-Cal, mention that up front too, since that opened up the non-emergency transport option for me instead of just the voucher.
