Hit 6 months today. What changed for you around this point?

Hit 6 months today and honestly I feel weirdly calm about it, not the big celebration I pictured back in month one. The physical stuff has been gone for a long time now, but something shifted in how I think about the whole thing recently. Curious what changed for you all around this point, was it a mindset thing, a relationship thing, or something more day to day?

For me 6 months was when recovery stopped being the main character of my life and started being more like the foundation under it. Around month 4 I was still counting days obsessively, but by month 6 I noticed I'd gone a full week without checking my sobriety app. What actually changed was my relationship with my sister, we started having normal conversations again instead of her checking on me constantly. I think the biggest shift is that people around you start trusting the routine, not just the promise.

6 months was rough for me actually, more than 3 months was. I hit a weird patch where I felt bored with my own life and started resenting how much time meetings and therapy still took up. What helped was picking up something totally unrelated to recovery, I started rock climbing twice a week, and having a goal that had nothing to do with sobriety made the whole thing feel less heavy. Congrats on your 6 months, that plateau feeling is real and it does pass.
