Hit 1 year today. What changed for you around this point?

Hit 1 year today. A year ago I couldn't picture getting through a single week, and now I'm sitting here trying to figure out what actually feels different. Sleep and mood have been steady for a long time, so it's not the obvious stuff anymore. What changed for you all specifically around the 1 year mark, and did it feel like a big shift or more of a slow build?

One year was the point where I stopped thinking of myself as someone in recovery and started just thinking of myself as who I am now, if that makes sense. The change that mattered most was work related, I finally trusted myself enough to ask for more responsibility at my job instead of staying small and safe. My sponsor told me year 1 is when the identity work finishes catching up to the physical recovery, and that's exactly how it felt for me. Happy 1 year, that's a real accomplishment.

For me the 1 year mark was less dramatic than I expected, honestly kind of anticlimactic in a good way. What did change was money, I finally paid off the debt I racked up during my using years and that felt bigger than the sobriety date itself somehow. I also noticed I stopped bracing for a slip the way I did at 6 months, there's just more trust in myself now. Congrats, hope year 2 feels even steadier.
